Rubrics

Official weights, late work, and letter grades live on the Simple Syllabus in Canvas. This page is the marking scheme only. Partial credit is the default. Fashion, extra features, and how long you speak in class are not graded.

50% weeklies · 15% midterm · 35% final Drop the lowest weekly. Week 0 is complete / incomplete and omitted.

Weekly laboratory report

Paste the requested lines on Canvas. The file itself lives in your private course repository as that week’s README.md (for example week03-inventory/README.md). How you work: workflow.html.

2 · File: The path you pasted opens a note (and a CSV in the same week folder when the lab collected data).
3 · Prediction or asked content: You answered the week’s question in your own words, written before or apart from the result.
3 · Result: A number, short table, or claim that comes from your file — not typed from memory or a chatbot.
1 · Limitation: One reason that number can lie (practice, anticipation, self-report, small n).
1 · Disclosure: AI use named, or the line no Copilot tonight.

Zero on a row if that piece is missing. Pasting classmate names or raw classmate data is a zero on Result. Late weekly reports are not accepted unless an accommodation is already in place; the dropped week covers one miss.

Week 5 exception

Week 5 is a code-editing lab in three steps (compare.html). Step 1 done well earns 8 of 10. Steps 2 and 3 are one point each. Everything lives in week05-compare/.

2 · Code edit (Step 1): Your rt.html has a condition that really changes the task, writes a condition column, and keeps both blocks in one CSV.
1 · Prediction: Direction and rough size, committed before the code change.
2 · Result: n, mean, and SD for A and B, and the difference, from your CSV. One sentence on whether the prediction held.
2 · Overlap and limitation: The overlap number in your own words, and one reason the difference could mislead.

1 · Disclosure: AI use named, or the line no Copilot tonight.
1 · Step 2: choice task: B is a two-key choice; the CSV has correct; errors are counted and left out of the mean.
1 · Step 3: Python: compare.py runs, prints both conditions, the difference, and the overlap, saves compare.png, and matches the page (or explains why not).

Week 4 exception

Week 4 is a compile lab. The browser preview on report.html is a demo, not Typst. A .typ file with a mean you typed by hand is not enough.

2 · Pipeline ran: output/numbers.typ and output/figure.png exist after a script run (generated table and figure, not a mean you typed).
2 · Paper written: main.typ has your prediction and limitation, not the starter stubs.
2 · PDF: week04-report/output/main.pdf opens and contains the generated numbers and the figure.
2 · Iteration: You changed the script, the exclusion rule, the figure, or a sentence after the first build, and the PDF changed.
1 · Limitation: One reason the number can lie, with n.

Week 3 exception

Week 3 is a code-editing lab, not a form to fill in. Your own copy of week03-inventory/inventory.html (plus inventory.css, its required dependency) is already in your private repo. Submitting the class demo page, or a copy with the item text unchanged, is not enough.

3 · All ten items rewritten: Every text field in your ITEMS array is your own wording. One or two edited, the rest left as the class default, is not enough.
2 · Structure kept, page still runs: 5 domains, 2 items each, one reverse: 1 per pair — the scoring still works, and inventory.css is still in the same folder.
2 · Note and CSV: week03-inventory/README.md and a CSV in that folder both open after you push.
1 · Prediction: Written before you click Score, for a domain you named yourself.
1 · Tedium note: One honest sentence on hand-editing ten hardcoded strings, and what you would rather use instead.

Week 2 exception

Week 2 is a measurement lab and a code edit. Running the class rt.html without a personalized copy is not enough. The p5 studio is the lesson, not a second product.

2 · Modified RT page: The path you pasted opens your copy (for example rt/rt.html). You personalized or modified the task so a stranger can tell it is not the class default. Changing one number is not enough.
2 · Note and CSV: week02-rt/README.md (or the older lab-notes/week02.md) and a CSV in that folder both open after you push.
2 · Prediction: A predicted mean, written before the first scored trial on your page.
2 · Result: n, mean RT, and SD from that export — not typed from memory.
1 · Limitation: One reason that number can lie (practice, anticipation, fatigue, small n).

Week 1 exception

Week 1 is a publishing lab, not a CSV. We mark the four GitHub steps and that you named three personal changes. Commit style is not graded. One pull request will be merged as the class homepage; the rest will be closed. Closing a PR is not a penalty.

2 · Own repository: A repo on your account with your index.html. The link opens.
2 · GitHub Pages: https://YOURUSER.github.io/YOURREPO/ shows your page, not a 404.
2 · Fork: A fork of the whole class handbook, with your page as that fork’s index.html. Other course files still there.
2 · Pull request: A PR from that fork into kylemath/Psych302-305-KyleMathewson.
1 · Three changes: You named three ways the page is about you.
